[January 19] |
Leaving for Egypt today. Don't try to owl me unless it's an emergency, & I'm not bringing my journal either because I'd much rather be spending time with my lovely girlfriend in Egypt than talking to you lot, no offense.
Be back in two weeks.

Year: I think we all know what year it is. Age: 25 How was your birthday this year? Honestly? Sort of a downer, but that will happen when I felt guilty the entire time for It was fine. Make any new friends? A few. Lose any friends? No. And how was the world of romance for you this year? Best year yet. Occupation: Same as before - Dept of International Magical Cooperation. Residence: With Padma. Pets: No, but I think I want one. Maybe a cat. Get any taller? No. Hairstyle for the year? The same as always. Best outfit of the year? I think I'll go with... whatever I wore to the autumn equinox festival. Padma liked that one. Major events of the year: My father came back. What did you do for New Year's? Went to the big Hogmanay party up in Edinburgh. What did you do for Valentine's Day? Worked, most likely. What did you do for St. Patrick's Day? Same. What did you do for Easter? Went home, had dinner with family. Where did you go on Summer Holiday? Didn't take one. What did you dress as for Halloween? Antony to Padma's Cleopatra. What did you get for Christmas? I already had everything I wanted, but I did get some great books, whisky, a new apron, a great cookbook for Indian food... What are your plans for this New Year? Stayed in with Padma. I had planned to go out to the big Hogmanay party up in Edinburgh, but my plans changed. Who are you going to kiss at midnight? Padma, of course. How do you want the new year to be different from this one? I'd like there to be less family drama. Otherwise, this year was the best I've had in years, so I don't want it to be that different. For there to not be a major natural disaster right before my birthday How do you want the new year to be the same as this one? I'd like my father to stick around, to stay with Padma, to keep my job & keep doing it well, for my family to be happy & in good health... so on, so forth.
Well then. Between the holidays, the tsunami, my birthday & New Years, I've been busy. Thank Merlin I have a holiday to go on because I really need the rest & relaxation. So does Padma. I'm worried I've never been so thankful for my own health & for my family's; after what happened with the tsunami... there aren't words.

[December 19] |
I have the best girlfriend in the entire world.
I have the best boss too, but he's not the one taking me to Egypt in January. He is, however, letting me go. Because the best girlfriend in the world asked him to give me some vacation time. I've never taken any

So, Padma, you come to visit my boss but not me? I see how it is.

[December 09] |
Just in case anyone was wondering, Padma's "close relationship" with my family is not a hindrance. If anything, I think it has made her even more compassionate to the plight of those like my father. She understands what these people are going through, and what their loved ones are going through, because it has hit her close to home as well. And how dare they bring my family into this? I don't like it when people criticise Padma in general, because she's done an incredible thing and done an incredible job with it - all it takes is one visit to the Sanctuary to see just what an impact she's had. But my family should have no part in this. Werewolves are one section of the population who desperately needed help, and she offered it and worked hard to make their lives better, so what's wrong with that? If they think other people are needy, why don't they go do something about that instead of criticising someone who has done a lot of good for our society? I can't even think about this coherently, I'm so mad.
These people are disgusting. I wouldn't be surprised if they were anti-werewolf in general and are simply trying to ruin Padma's reputation because of their own close-minded prejudices.

Note to self:
It is not the best idea to laugh when you come home late from rare weekend meeting for work & your girlfriend is flipping out worried about you because she couldn't find you & there'd been a Dark Mark in the air.
In my defense, the look she gets on her face when she's simultaneously angry & relieved is quite amusing.

I had no idea that so many people in the office read the Out & About section in the Daily Prophet.

[October 22] |
I could use a really long holiday. Somewhere warm.
Emma, want to get lunch sometime? Or dinner? Do you have any idea where my sister is? Either she is not getting my owls, or she is refusing to answer them.

If you work in the Ministry, I think it is best for us all if you men avoided wearing any of the new colognes on the market. Women need to do their job, not get distracted & throw themselves at you.
